In the U-17 Boys semis matches played at Indoor Stadium, Campal; Tejan Fallary beat Varun Vernekar 21-16, 21-9 while Shashank Desai beat Varad Karekar 21-18, 21-19. Don Bosco Engineers steal the show; crowned Goa University Football Champions
Football is anybodies game! Don Bosco Engineering College, Fatorda just proved that as they were crowned champions of the inter-college football tournament on Friday. The Engineers defeated favorites Dhempe College, Miramar 2-0 in the final at the Goa University grounds, Taleigao. The tournament was organized by the Goa University.
In the exciting final, Don Bosco surprised Dhempe with some smart piece of play. The Fatorda side implemented their strategies well to thwart Dhempe's attacking game policy.
After a goalless first half, Don Bosco broke the deadlock in the 56th minute through Joel Dias. Jolted severely, Dhempe made furious attempts to level the scoreline. However, on the the contrary, the Miramar side conceded the second goal in the 90th minute. Don Bosco's Aggio Antao was bang on target to seal the victory and championship in favor of the Fatorda side.
Prof. A. V. Afonso, Vice Chancellor of Goa University, was the chief guest and presented medals and trophies to the Winners and Runners up.

Lesgaft University to provide assistance to Goa University in Sports Sciences
Goa University is set to be a beneficiary in Sports Sciences from the Lesgaft University, Russia. A delegation from Lesgaft University of Physical Education, Sports and Health, St. Petersberg (Russia) visited the Goa University today to discuss the modalities.
The delegation included Mr. Yakov Morozov – Director of Institute and Vice President of the Federation of Sports Managers in Russia, Mr. Nikolaev Sergei – Head of the North West branch of the Federation of Sports Managers in Russia, Mr. Nikitin Ruslan – Deputy Director of the Institute of Sports facilities and Indistries, Mr. Nunez Joshua David – Coordinator of the delegation and Mr. Nilesh Neel – Coordinator of the visit to Goa.
The team had a meeting with Prof. A.V. Afonso, Vice Chancellor and Prof. V.P.Kamat, Registrar of Goa University. The two parties have decided to continue the communication further so as to work out the modalities of signing a Memorandum of Understanding. This will lead to sharing of expertise among the Universities. The Goa University can benefit from the progress made by the Lesgaft University in Sports Sciences, being one of the foremost Universities in Physical Education and Sports Sciences. It was felt that the Goa University is logistically placed well and with the support of SAG and the backing of the Government, Goa University can become the centre for development of Sports Sciences. Mr. Elvis Gomes, Executive Director SAG, Kennedy D’Silva Executive Secretary, GFDC and Milton Fernandes, Asst. Dir. of Physical Education and Sports, Goa University were also present.
Later there was an interactive session between the Lesgaft University delegation and the Directors of Physical Education and Sports, of Colleges affiliated to Goa University.
