After clinching the Chowgule Golden Jubilee Cup, St. Xavier's College continue to dominate as they made it to the semi-final of their own Xavier’s Gold Cup. Rosary College also joined the hosts in the semi-final line-up. The matches were played at St. Xavier's College ground on Tuesday.
In the first match of the day, St. Xavier’s defeated Fr. Agnel College, Pilar 4-2 via tiebreaker. The teams failed to break the deadlock within the regulation time.
Although St. Xavier’s played a beautiful game, their scoring options were squandered by Shubham Dessai on a couple of occasions. In the resultant tiebreaker St. Xavier’s found the nets through Mawrick Almeida, Jovito Fernandes, Lesten Martins and Shane Temudo while Reenoy and Clive were the scorers for Fr. Agnel
In the next quarter-final, Rosary College got the better of Chowgule College by a 3-0 margin. The winners led 1-0 at half time, courtesy an early strike from Bitu Singh.
Crossing over, Rosary pumped in two more goals through Stephen Pereira and Clencio Pinto.
In the semis, Rosary College will face Damodar College, Margao while St. Xavier’s will play host to Dhempe College, Miramar.
